Swap Meet Policy

You can trade anything that you think will be of interest to other Room 801 attendees, including comics/anime, fancomics/doujinshi, DVDs (movies or anime), books, official merchandise, CDs, clothing and games.

If you wish to trade items, please tell the volunteer at the door so they can give you a seller’s necklace.

For sellers

  1. If you are swapping one item for another, you must agree on a dollar value for your items with the other party before you trade.
  2. If you are trading region-locked items such as DVDs or games, you must clearly state the region that the item is for.
  3. If you are trading books, you must honestly state what percentage of the book is actually text, or allow interested buyers to examine the inside of the book.

The goods you are trading must:

  • be official goods, doujinshi or fanmade merchandise
  • be second-hand, to be fair to our artists and traders
  • be washed and free of stains if they are intended to be worn or slept on

The goods you are trading must NOT:

  • be bootlegs or counterfeit merchandise
  • be handmade/produced by yourself*
  • feature characters under 16 in sexual situations
  • be illegal in any other sense
  • be unhygienic (e.g. intimate apparel)
  • be a food or beverage

* In some circumstances an exception may be made by the organisers, usually for international visitors or guest speakers.

For all attendees

  1. The Code of Conduct and Terms of Registration still apply to the Swap Meet and it is expected that attendees keep the area tidy during and after use and abide by any regulations the venue has in place.
  2. Attendance at the swap meet does not mean you are obliged to pay for anything, or accept any offers you do not wish to.
  3. Checking the market values and availability of products online is advised before buying, selling or agreeing to a trade.
  4. Objectionable Events, Holiday Inn Parramatta, and staff of the aforementioned organisations shall not be held responsible for items which are faulty, misrepresented, or lower quality than the seller said they would be.
  5. Objectionable Events, Holiday Inn Parramatta, and staff of the aforementioned organisations shall not be held responsible for items which are lost or stolen at the swap meet. You are an adult and you are responsible for your own stuff.
  6. Objectionable Events, Holiday Inn Parramatta, and staff of the aforementioned organisations will not enter into any correspondence regarding trades, unless illegal items have been identified.
