Soooo, if we told you we were organising a one-day event in Sydney… when could you go? (The poll closes in a week – your answers will really help us out!)
Room 801 is just a month away and the schedule is just about complete, so we have some exciting event announcements to make!
Firstly, we’ll be running an official screening of The Fragile Heart of Moe during the convention. This NHK-commissioned, Indian-produced documentary directed by Bharath Murthy focuses on female doujinshi artists, Comiket and fujoshi.
Jake and Zac from the offbeat and hilarious Gaming Cult Podcast will also be joining us on the weekend; they’ll be playing through the classic pigeon dating sim Hatoful Boyfriend for your entertainment. The GCP boys will also be in the trader area with AarinFantasy, Japanese Gay Art, Fox Lee, Sparkling Generation Valkyrie Yuuki, Bea Bravo and Y Labs. For more info about any of our traders and artists, visit the Traders page.
Premium ticket sales close at the end of the Australia Day long weekend (midnight on the 27th of January), so if you’re planning to get a premium ticket then make sure you get in before the deadline. We’ll also be sending reminders to our mailing list, so sign up if you need a reminder and stay up to date with what’s happening at the convention.
We’re still taking suggestions for our Swap Meet video playlist, and here’s a really obvious poll for January!
This weekend one of the Room 801 organisers is taking a little road trip up to Brisbane! Pirotess will be sharing a table with Alisha Jade and Escape Velocity (by Ms.Rosek and Mamath) in the artist alley at table 212. It’s right near the cosplay registration/information desk.
You can buy tickets for Room 801 at our table, plus Pirotess will be selling the latest issue of Noble Rot and the usual collection of yaoi comics and artbooks. A little birdie tells us that our guest author Mary Borsellino will be wandering around the convention, too.
We’re still taking suggestions for activities and panels, and we’re accepting applications for the artist alley via our trader form – so if you’re interested in any of that, get in touch!
Things were a bit crazy last month so we didn’t have a poll, but here’s a new one for November.
Room 801 will be visiting the Brisbane Supanova Artist Alley in November! We’re sharing a table with the excellent Escape Velocity and Alisha Jade. Drop by and say hi to Pirotess, ask any questions you have about the convention or buy a ticket in person. To celebrate, we’re extending the early bird deadline until the end of November. Premium tickets are particularly limited and we’ve sold a few already, so if you want the full experience then get in early and buy your ticket online.
Speaking of Artist Alleys, if you’re an artist and want to sell your art at the convention, fill out the trader form and we’ll send you a trader pack. We know being an artist (especially a yaoi or yuri one) is a labour of love, so we’ve tried to keep things as artist-friendly as possible.
If you’ve been hanging out for panels and presentations, we can now confirm our first group of incredibly talented guests. Artist Jozef Szekeres, game designer Luke Miller, writer Mary Borsellino and censorship lawyer Dr Scott Beattie will be attending Room 801 and sharing their knowledge and experience with you over the weekend. We’ll be introducing each of our guests in the coming weeks, as well as announcing a few more, so stay tuned!
Finally, we’ve got another new poll.
If you’re going to Supanova Sydney this weekend, drop by the Y Labs table (C4 in the Artist’s Alley) and say hi! We’re upgrading from business cards to flyers now that we have things to announce. If you’re an artist or vendor and are interested in trading info, we’d love to chat to you too.
And here’s this month’s poll…
